This was a touring and photographic event for Section members and their friends loosely based on the Tour of Britain Rally. The Landmarks included a variety of monuments, statues, follies and places of interest readily accessible from main roads. They were, however, spread throughout the country, so the challenge was in their distance apart, making the difficulty in visiting as many as possible in the course of the year.

The objective was to encourage you to use your motorcycle to tour Scotland, either on your own or in company. Basically, it was an excuse to go for a series of long rides on your bike.

My thanks to those who took part in this year's event. The winner's for 2008/2009 are Colin and Shirley W. from Preston in Lancs who completed the whole Challenge on either their MZ ETS250 Trophy Sport or Kanuni 250. Runner up was Stuart W. (no relation) who also completed the whole Challenge, but did so on his Yamaha FJ1200, which made it a bit easier going. Stuart also wins the best picture award again this year for a shot of a bizarre garden in the borders chock full of gnomes (check the pictures page). An honourable mention also goes to Jim L. who made a valiant effort despite being hampered by being almost constantly on holiday now he and his wife have retired.

This will be the last time I will be running this event as the numbers who took part this year were disappointingly low. I hope that those who did take part this year and last enjoyed themselves and that they found themselves in parts of the country that they had previously overlooked. That was, after all, part of the idea behind the whole thing.
